workshop with Vojtěch Šeda
How do you create a hero? Every story—whether a comic or an illustrated tale—needs a memorable character. In this creative workshop, participants will invent and draw their own hero, who can go on to live a life of adventures between comic panels and perhaps even travel through time, just like little Mordechai. There are no limits to your imagination!
Illustrator and comic book artist Vojtěch Šeda (born 1985) is one of the leading figures of contemporary Czech comics. Alongside his comic strips and newspaper illustrations, he frequently explores themes from Czech history. The book 1918, or How I Scored a Goal Across Czechoslovakia, featuring his illustrations, received the Magnesia Litera Award in 2019. Šeda has illustrated numerous graphic books, including How Havel Became President (2015), Heroes (2017), The Prague Defenestration (2018), A Guide to Restless Territory II: Stories of Modern Architecture (2018), A Playful Guide to Prague (2019), and Ha Ha Ha, Laughed Mordechai (2020).
The workshop will be conducted in Czech.
