DESOLATION COLONY is the doom electronics project from Joshua Strachan (Vaura, Azar Swan, Blacklist). Incorporating elements of industrial, noise, power electronics, and EBM, Strachan absorbs our daily disintegrations and refracts them through aggressive sounds and relentless energy.
Desolation Colony dropped two full-length releases in 2025, the first entitled “A Rapture of Blooming Revenge,“ via Phage Tapes and the second, “The Impossibility of Haunting a Barren World,” via Throne Heap. The first is an aggressive, beat-driven catalog of world-destruction and the retreat of the human animal from its failed attempts at dominance over nature. The second is a raw, power electronics-inflected slice of textural industrial reflecting on the disappearance of humanity at its own hands through technological warfare and genocide.
Desolation Colony has played with like-minded acts such as Xeno &. Oaklander, Agent Side Grinder, and Years of Denial.
The mind behind ASKA is Kristófer Páll. He considers himself primarily as poet, but the broadening of the meaning horizon of words through the power of music is equally important to him. He has outgrown Black Metal, and has found in electronic music the ideal platform on which to experiment with the spoken word. Thus this presentation of exclusively Islandic text is a highlight of Aska: Every single word falls as if bitterly broken out of a tortured soul at just the right place in the sound structure, and resonates the sadness that characterises Aska’s music. Aska has effectively united melancholic melodies with unsettling noise. A dense web of microsounds is the result, without disturbing the reduced overall effect of the music. Co-existential to the haunting atmosphere of analogue synths and vocals, the drum-machine enters the scene, and with skeletal rhythms challenges one to dance. Aska treads a wide spectrum. Influences of wave and industrial are condensed into perfect angst pop: Super dark, super sad, super beautiful!
MODE IN GLIANY is the project of Boris Völt, a composer and performer from Brittany. Co-founder of the cult label Brume Records in the late 90s, his work spans industrial electronics, acousmatic art and a fiercely live-oriented approach to sound.
His performances rely exclusively on analog and DIY gear, using live looping and sequencers to build tension in real time. Vocals are delivered in French, sometimes interwoven with Breton, over sharp synth riffs and sonic guitar textures. Visually, his shows are framed by black and white 3D graphics and lo-fi video collages made from found footage.
His sets often include reworks of parallel projects like Irène de Milo or Cinématique Inverse, reshaped through the raw language of Mode in GliANY.
