The silence of an empty lot where a synagogue once stood before it was burned down by the Nazis. Buried names, renamed streets, interrupted stories. What remains of a place that has disappeared? And how can we listen to voices that were silenced?
This new site-specific production, created for the space of Brno’s vanished Great Synagogue, combines theatre, soundscape, fragments of memories and authentic testimonies of people searching for their relationship to Jewish identity, memory and home. A haunting theatrical journey on the border between documentary testimony, performance and a personal prayer for those who stood here before us — and for those who will come after us.
