Od svého založení v roce 1852 až do současnosti slouží židovský hřbitov v Brně-Židenicích svému účelu. Na ploše 3 hektarů je zde k poslednímu odpočinku uloženo přes 11 400 lidí. Pochovány jsou zde osobnosti z oblasti politiky, kultury, vědy, hospodářství a náboženství, jako například rabíni Baruch Placzek a Richard Feder, novinář Hieronymus Lorm, mecenáš Heinrich Gomperz, herec Hugo Haas, primabalerína Alice Flachová nebo psycholožka Věra Capponi. Komentovaná prohlídka přiblíží historii hřbitova a osudy zde pochovaných příslušníků význačných továrnických a průmyslnických rodin, ale i tradice a zvyklosti židovského způsobu pohřbívání.
Guided Tour of the Jewish Cemetery
Founded in 1852, the Jewish Cemetery in Brno–Židenice has served its original purpose continuously to this day. Covering an area of three hectares, it is the final resting place of more than 11,400 individuals. Buried here are prominent figures from politics, culture, science, business, and religious life, including rabbis Baruch Placzek and Richard Feder, journalist Hieronymus Lorm, philanthropist Heinrich Gomperz, actor Hugo Haas, prima ballerina Alice Flachová, and psychologist Věra Capponi.
The guided tour will introduce the history of the cemetery and the lives of members of notable industrial and manufacturing families buried here, as well as the traditions and customs associated with Jewish burial practices.
