In a dusty attic, amid piles of objects, a space emerges between a family photo album and the inner world of a young person. Natálie Lacinová’s intermedia monodrama intimately explores themes of memory, reliving the past, and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. The artist opens her personal archive and revisits fragments of her life.
She brings memories captured on a home video camera – with their beginnings and endings, their static, and their poor image quality – into the present. Through movement, dance, video projections, and words, she reveals her process of coming to terms with a past that is being rewritten into the present. She allows herself to recall, to remember, to create a continuation of what ended long ago. The audience becomes both witnesses and participants in a process in which memories are transformed into images, gestures, and physical presence.
