lecture by rabbi Eliezer Simcha Weiss

How can religious tradition be preserved in a world that is changing at an ever-increasing pace? What role can traditional values play in contemporary society, and how are they understood through Jewish law and rabbinic authority?

Rabbi Eliezer Simcha Weiss, a member of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate of the State of Israel and Chief Rabbi of the cities of Bnei Brak and Herzliya, will offer an Orthodox Jewish perspective on the relationship between tradition and modernity. Through his work in two very different Israeli cities—ultra-Orthodox Bnei Brak and modern Herzliya—Rabbi Weiss brings unique experience in seeking a balance between fidelity to tradition and life in the contemporary world. The lecture will provide not only an insight into Jewish religious thought, but also an opportunity for a broader discussion about the place of traditional values in today’s society.

The lecture will be held in English with Czech interpretation.
